Straight Router Bit Two Flute Metric

Cutting Diameter: 12mm
Classification: Standard (Yellow)

The Two-Flute Straight Router Bit is an indispensable tool for woodworkers and fabricators requiring a blend of speed and superior finish in their straight-line cutting operations.

Featuring two balanced, opposing cutting edges measured in precise metric diameters, this bit offers reduced vibration and a smoother cut compared to single-flute alternatives. The dual-flute design ensures that two cutting strikes occur per revolution, leading to a much cleaner finish on the material surface and edges.

This robust bit is ideally suited for creating high-quality, professional grooves, dadoes, rabbets, and precise edge-trimming in a wide range of materials, including hardwoods, softwoods, plywood, and various composite sheets, making it a highly versatile and essential addition for both table-mounted and handheld metric routing applications.

Application:

  • Router bits are for use with router machines only.
  • Be sure that at least 3/4 of the shaft length is inserted into the router collet.
  • Do not 'bottom-out' the bit in the collet. The shank should be 1/8' from the bottom of the collet.
  • Route in two or more passes when large amounts of stock must be removed.

Features

  • Straight profile for clean, square-walled cuts.
  • 12 mm cutting diameter — versatile width for dados and recesses.
  • Precision-ground edges for smooth finish and reduced tear-out.
  • Rigid body helps minimise chatter in deeper passes.
  • Router-collet compatible (use the correctly sized shank/collet).

Benefits

  • Clean finish: flat-bottom grooves with minimal sanding.
  • Accurate tracking: performs well with fences, jigs and templates.
  • All-rounder: suitable for joinery and general shop routing tasks.

Extra Information

  • Make multiple shallow passes for deep cuts; clear chips between passes.
  • Match RPM & feed rate to the material to avoid burning.
  • Ensure the bit is fully seated and the collet is tight before use.
  • Use dust extraction where possible for better visibility and surface quality.

Pro Tip

  • For hinge or hardware pockets, score the outline with a knife, then remove waste with a series of shallow plunges to keep edges crisp.
  • On end-grain cuts, take a light climb-cut pass to reduce breakout, then complete the cut feeding against rotation.

Safety

  • Wear eye & hearing protection; use a dust mask or extraction.
  • Secure the workpiece; feed against bit rotation to prevent kickback.
  • Let the router reach full speed before engaging; stop fully before lifting out.
  • Inspect bit and collet regularly; replace if worn or damaged.
