Tork Craft 11 Piece Spoke Torque Wrench Set 1-8Nm

At a Glance: Precision mechanical spoke torque wrench set with a 1-8Nm range, fine 0.05Nm resolution, ±4% accuracy, 9 spoke head inserts plus a spline insert and a protective storage case.

Achieve controlled and repeatable spoke tension adjustments with the Tork Craft TCTQGM711 Spoke Torque Wrench Set. Developed specifically for precision spoke work, this compact mechanical torque wrench covers a 1-8Nm torque range with fine 0.05Nm resolution and ±4% accuracy. The set includes nine different flat spoke head inserts from 5.1mm to 6.9mm plus a spline head insert, allowing the correct insert to be selected for the spoke nipple being serviced. A laser-engraved Nm scale, locking adjustment collar and clear mechanical click make setting and applying the required torque straightforward. Once the selected torque is reached, the wrench momentarily releases with an audible and tactile click, helping the operator stop at the specified setting and avoid unnecessary over-tightening. Supplied in a blow moulded case, the complete 11 piece set is ideal for motorcycle wheel spoke maintenance, servicing and precision final adjustment.

Purpose-built precision for spoke tension adjustment

The TCTQGM711 is not a conventional socket torque wrench. Its 10.9mm round drive with ball detent is designed to accept the supplied spoke head inserts, creating a compact torque-controlled system specifically for spoke nipples. The nine flat inserts and additional spline insert provide a useful selection for different spoke head profiles, while the 1-8Nm adjustment range gives the fine control required for delicate spoke tension work.

  • Nm scale: Torque values are clearly marked in Newton metres.
  • Macro and minor torque scales: Work together to set the required torque value accurately.
  • Locking collar: Pull back to adjust the wrench and push forward to lock the selected setting.
  • Audible mechanical click: Indicates when the preset torque has been reached.
  • Ball-detent drive: Helps retain the selected spoke head insert securely during use.
  • Aluminium handle and sleeve: Finished in anodized black and red.

Benefits

  • Controlled spoke tension: Helps the operator tighten spokes to the torque value specified by the manufacturer.
  • Fine adjustment capability: The 0.05Nm resolution allows precise settings within the low 1-8Nm operating range.
  • Reduced risk of over-tightening: The mechanical click provides a clear indication to stop applying force when the selected torque is reached.
  • Multiple spoke sizes covered: Nine flat inserts and one spline insert provide useful versatility for different spoke nipple designs.
  • Simple mechanical operation: No batteries, charging or electronic setup is required.
  • Organised workshop storage: The supplied case protects the precision wrench and makes it easy to keep all inserts together.

Application

  • Precision motorcycle spoke tension adjustment.
  • Final tightening of compatible spoke nipples.
  • Motorcycle wheel maintenance and repair.
  • Workshop wheel servicing.
  • Setting spoke torque to manufacturer-specified values.
  • Maintenance where controlled low-range torque is essential.

Extra Information

  • Designed for final setting: The torque wrench is intended to apply the final specified torque to spoke nipples. It should not be used to loosen spoke nipples.
  • Mechanical torque indication: When the selected torque value is reached, the wrench momentarily releases with a noticeable mechanical click.
  • Macro and minor scales: The two scales are used together to achieve fine torque settings. For example, a required value can be established using the main Nm scale and then refined using the minor scale.
  • Insert selection: Always choose the spoke head insert that best matches the spoke nipple before applying torque.
  • Calibration interval: Wrench accuracy should be verified every 12 months or after approximately 1000 clicks. Calibration is also recommended following unusual handling or overloading.
  • Cleaning: Clean the torque wrench regularly using a soft cloth. Do not use fuel, alcohol, ammonia or similar solvents.
  • Storage: Keep the torque wrench and inserts in the supplied case to protect them from damage, dirt and moisture.
  • Important storage setting: Return the wrench dial to zero before storage as specified in the supplied instructions.

Pro Tips

  • Always obtain the correct spoke torque specification from the motorcycle or wheel manufacturer before making the final adjustment.
  • Select the closest-fitting insert carefully. A poorly fitting spoke head insert can damage the spoke nipple.
  • Use a suitable conventional spoke tool for loosening or initial adjustment and reserve the torque wrench for the final specified torque setting.
  • Apply force slowly and smoothly. Stop immediately when the wrench clicks to avoid adding additional torque beyond the selected value.
  • Apply force through the handle only. Do not add an extension bar, pipe or other device to increase leverage.
  • If the wrench is dropped, overloaded or handled unusually, have its accuracy checked before relying on it for precision work.
  • Keep the inserts clean and return them to the case after use so that the correct size is easy to identify for the next job.

How to Use

  • Confirm the correct spoke torque value specified by the motorcycle, wheel or spoke manufacturer.
  • Select the spoke head insert that best matches the size and profile of the spoke nipple.
  • Fit the selected insert securely onto the 10.9mm round drive. The ball detent helps retain the insert.
  • Pull the locking collar on the handle backwards to unlock the torque adjustment.
  • Rotate the handle clockwise to increase the torque setting or counter-clockwise to decrease it.
  • Align the macro scale with the required main Nm value and use the minor scale to set the finer increment where required.
  • Push the locking collar towards the drive end to secure the selected torque setting.
  • Position the spoke head insert securely over the spoke nipple being tightened.
  • Apply hand pressure to the grip in a smooth and gradual clockwise movement. Stabilise the wrench near the drive end with the other hand if necessary.
  • Continue applying steady force until the wrench momentarily releases with an audible and tactile click.
  • Release pressure immediately when the click occurs to avoid over-tightening the spoke nipple.
  • After completing the work, return the torque setting to zero and store the wrench and inserts in the supplied case.
