Peak and Track torque modes

The TCTQ3860M provides two operating modes. Track/Real-Time (T) mode displays the torque being applied as it changes, while Peak (P) mode is the peak-hold mode for monitoring the highest torque value reached during the fastening operation.

LED and audible torque warning

Once a target torque has been set, the wrench provides progressive visual and audible feedback as that value is approached. At approximately 80% of the selected torque the LED begins flashing and the buzzer sounds. As the target value gets closer, the LED flashes and the buzzer sounds more rapidly. At 100% of the selected torque the LED and buzzer remain continuously activated, signalling that the preset value has been reached.

Four selectable torque units

The digital display can be changed between Nm, kgf.cm, ft-lb and in-lb. This makes it convenient to work directly from different automotive, engineering and equipment manufacturers' torque specifications.

Keeping a torque wrench accurate

Using extensions correctly

Extensions that move the centre of the fastener away from the centreline of the ratchet drive can change the effective torque delivered to the fastener. This should be taken into account when using offset extensions or adaptors. Always follow the relevant equipment manufacturer's specified torque procedure.

Pro Tips

Power up before loading: Switch the wrench on before applying force. Applying force before power-up may create an offset reading that requires a reset.
Use a smooth, steady pull: Apply torque gradually through the handle rather than using a sudden or jerking movement.
Stop at the target: Release pressure once the preset torque indication has been reached. Continuing to apply force may over-torque the fastener.
