Peak and Track torque modes

The TCTQ14030M provides two operating modes. Track/Real-Time (T) mode provides a live indication of the torque being applied, while Peak (P) mode is the peak-hold mode for monitoring the highest torque value reached during the fastening operation.

LED and audible torque warning

When a target torque value has been set, the wrench provides progressive visual and audible feedback. At approximately 80% of the selected value the LED begins flashing and the buzzer sounds. As the target torque is approached, the flashing and beeping become faster. At 100% of the selected value the LED and buzzer remain continuously activated, signalling that the target has been reached.

Four selectable torque units

The digital display can be changed between Nm, kgf.cm, ft-lb and in-lb. This is useful when working with manufacturers' specifications expressed in different torque units.

Keeping a torque wrench accurate

A torque wrench is a precision measuring tool and should be treated accordingly. To maintain accuracy, the manufacturer recommends calibration once a year, after unusual handling or overloading, or after approximately 5000 operating cycles.

Using extensions correctly

Extensions that move the centre of the fastener away from the centreline of the ratchet drive can alter the effective torque delivered to the fastener. Always take this into account when using offset extensions or adaptors and follow the applicable torque specification.

Pro Tips

Start without load: Switch the wrench on before applying force. Loading the wrench before power-up can result in an offset reading that requires a reset.
Use a smooth pull: Apply slow, steady pressure to the handle rather than a sudden or jerking movement.
Stop at the target: Release pressure when the target torque indication is reached. Do not continue pulling and over-torque the fastener.
Hold the handle correctly: Apply force through the designated handle area. Do not fit a pipe or other extension over the handle to increase leverage.
Use the correct socket: Always select a socket or drive attachment that fits both the 1/4' drive and the fastener correctly.
Follow the fastener specification: Always use the torque value specified by the vehicle, component or equipment manufacturer.
Protect the electronics: Remove the batteries if the wrench will not be used for an extended period.

How to Use

Fit the batteries: Install the two supplied 1.5V AAA batteries with the correct polarity and securely close the battery compartment.
Switch on: Press the P/C button to power up the wrench. The display should show a zero reading before torque is applied.
Select the operating mode: Use the M button to choose between Peak (P) and Track/Real-Time (T) mode.
