Festool GRANAT STF D150/48 P100 GR/100 Abrasive Discs

At a Glance: Professional 150 mm P100 GRANAT abrasive discs for efficient sanding of modern paint systems, VOC clear coats, hard substrates, plastics, mineral materials, acrylic, repair compounds and fillers. StickFix fastening and the MULTI-JETSTREAM 2 system with 49-hole extraction support low-dust sanding, reduced clogging and long abrasive life. Supplied in a professional pack of 100.

The Festool GRANAT STF D150/48 P100 GR/100 is a versatile professional abrasive developed for demanding surface-preparation work where high material removal, reliable dust extraction and consistent abrasive life are important. GRANAT is particularly well suited to modern paint systems, VOC varnishes and hard substrates, while also performing effectively on plastics, mineral materials, acrylic, repair compounds and fillers. Festool's special abrasive coating helps reduce premature clogging, allowing the P100 abrasive to maintain effective cutting performance for longer. The 150 mm discs use Festool's StickFix hook-and-loop fastening system for quick abrasive changes, while the MULTI-JETSTREAM 2 extraction system uses a 49-hole extraction layout to remove sanding dust efficiently from the working surface. This helps protect the workpiece, improve abrasive life and create a cleaner sanding environment. The discs are compatible with a broad range of Festool D150 sanders and are supplied in a pack of 100 for regular workshop, finishing and site use.

Universal GRANAT performance for demanding surfaces

GRANAT is Festool's universal premium abrasive range developed to perform particularly well on modern coatings and hard surfaces. Extra Information

  • What does STF mean? STF identifies Festool's StickFix hook-and-loop abrasive attachment system.
  • What does D150 mean? D150 identifies a round abrasive disc with a nominal diameter of 150 mm.
  • What does P100 mean? P100 identifies the abrasive grit grade. It provides substantial material removal while producing a finer surface than very coarse preparation grits such as P40 or P60.
  • What does GR mean? GR identifies Festool's GRANAT abrasive quality.
  • What does /100 mean? The package contains 100 abrasive discs.
  • Why does GRANAT resist clogging? Festool uses a special abrasive coating that helps prevent sanding residue from adhering excessively to the disc surface.
  • What is MULTI-JETSTREAM 2? MULTI-JETSTREAM 2 is Festool's optimised sanding-pad airflow and dust-extraction system. Intake and exhaust channels work together to transport sanding dust away from the surface efficiently.
  • Why is efficient extraction important? Removing dust from beneath the abrasive helps prevent clogging, reduces loose particles on the surface and allows the abrasive grains to continue cutting effectively.
  • Is P100 a finishing grit? P100 is primarily a preparation and intermediate sanding grit. For fine painted, varnished or polished finishes, it is normally followed by progressively finer abrasive grades.
  • Why is GRANAT recommended for VOC coatings? Modern VOC-compliant coatings can be tough and prone to clogging conventional abrasives. GRANAT was developed specifically to provide effective cutting and long service life on these coatings.
Understanding P100 grit

P100 sits between aggressive coarse sanding and fine finishing. It is useful for removing sanding marks left by coarser abrasives, levelling repair compounds and preparing painted or filled surfaces for the next sanding stage. The final grit required will depend on the coating system or finish that follows.

MULTI-JETSTREAM 2 and 49-hole extraction

Festool's MULTI-JETSTREAM 2 system controls airflow between the sanding pad, abrasive and dust extractor. The current D150 GRANAT system uses 49 extraction openings to remove dust across the sanding area. This improves extraction efficiency, reduces abrasive loading and helps maintain a cleaner workpiece surface.

Why grit progression matters

Abrasive scratches become progressively finer as the grit number increases. Rather than jumping from a very coarse abrasive directly to a finishing grit, using sensible intermediate grades allows each stage to remove the scratch pattern created by the previous one. This produces a more uniform surface and often saves time overall.

Pro Tips

  • Use P100 for controlled material removal and intermediate preparation rather than final finishing.
  • Progress to finer GRANAT grades after P100 when preparing surfaces for high-quality paint or varnish.
  • Connect an effective dust extractor whenever machine sanding to make full use of MULTI-JETSTREAM 2.
  • Align the abrasive correctly on the sanding pad so the extraction system can work efficiently.
  • Use light to moderate pressure and allow the abrasive and sander to remove the material.
  • Excessive sanding pressure can reduce pad rotation, increase heat and accelerate abrasive wear.
  • Clean the surface between grit changes so loose coarse particles do not contaminate the next sanding stage.
  • Inspect filler and repair compounds frequently because P100 can remove material quickly on softer substrates.
  • Replace the disc when material removal slows noticeably rather than increasing machine pressure.
  • Use a suitable interface or protection pad where required by the particular sanding application and Festool sanding-pad instructions.
  • Make a test area first when sanding unfamiliar plastics, mineral materials or coated surfaces.
  • Store unused abrasives flat and protected from moisture, oil and workshop contamination.

How to Use

  • Confirm that P100 is appropriate for the material and current sanding stage.
  • Switch off the sanding machine before fitting or changing the abrasive.
  • Inspect the 150 mm sanding pad and remove loose dust or debris.
  • Position the GRANAT disc centrally on the StickFix sanding pad.
  • Align the disc correctly with the MULTI-JETSTREAM 2 extraction pattern.
  • Press the abrasive evenly onto the pad so the hook-and-loop fastening engages securely.
  • Connect the sander to a suitable dust extractor where machine extraction is available.
  • Select an appropriate sanding speed for the material.
  • Place the sanding pad flat on the workpiece.
  • Guide the machine using smooth, overlapping passes.
  • Use controlled pressure rather than forcing the sander into the surface.
  • Inspect the work regularly to avoid removing more material than required.
  • Replace the abrasive when it becomes worn, damaged or no longer cuts efficiently.
  • Clean the workpiece thoroughly before progressing to the next finer grit.
